About

Yahia H. Zoubir is Professor of International Relations and International Management, and Director of Research in Geopolitics at EUROMED MANAGEMENT, Marseille School of Management. Prior to joining EUROMED in September 2005, he was Managing and Academic Director of Thunderbird Europe, French-Geneva Center in Archamps, France. He was full, tenured Professor of Global Business & International Studies at The American Graduate School of International Management, Glendale, Arizona, USA. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the refereed Thunderbird International Business Review (1996-2007). From May 2006 to May 2009, he was Co-Editor-in-Chief of Global Business and Organizational Excellence-A Review of Research and Best Practices, published by Wiley in the USA. Dr. Zoubir is the co-author of Doing Business in Emerging Europe (UK: Palgrave, 2003). He is co-editor of North Africa: Politics, Region, and the Limits of Transformation (Rutledge, 2008); the Editor and main contributor of North Africa in Transition-State, Society & Economic Transformation in the 1990s (University Press of Florida, 1999); Co-editor of L’Islamisme Politique dans les Rapports entre l’Europe et le Maghreb, (Lisbon, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, 1996); and, Coeditor and main contributor of International Dimensions of the Western Sahara Conflict (Praeger Publisher, 1993). His publications have appeared in major US, Canadian, and European scholarly journals and as chapters in edited volumes. He also contributed to various encyclopedias.

Dr. Zoubir has pursued training at LTS Training & Consulting in Developing Intercultural Training Skills (2009); on Negotiation at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago (2005); the Harvard Program on Negotiation, Cambridge, Massachusetts (1996); the Summer Institute for Intercultural Studies Program in Cross Cultural Communication, Portland, Oregon (1998); and the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University’s Workshop for Strategies in International Negotiations North Carolina (1999). In December 2002, he co-edited with Roger Volkema a Special Issue in Cross Cultural Negotiations for the Thunderbird International Business Review.

Dr. Zoubir taught in the United States, Belgium, Switzerland, and France, where he has lived for many years. He has been an international consultant in Cross Cultural Communication and International Negotiations for major corporations, such as Honeywell, Motorola, Boeing Company, Kempinski Hotels, Phelps Dodge, Teleflex (USA), Nutraco (Switzerland), Invensys, Inc., Legrand, Alcatel, OCEOR-Caisse d’Epargne (France), CEMEX (Mexico), and Citicorp (Poland). He also teaches seminars in Cross Cultural Communication and Global Negotiations at the World Trade Centers in Amman, Jordan and in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the European Institute for Purchasing Management (France), IPADE (Mexico), École Management Lyon, Reims Management School, ESC Grenoble (France), École Hôtelière de Lausanne (Switzerland); the University of Padeborn, (Germany), the Algerian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce (Algiers, Algeria); the Czech Management Center (Prague, Czech Republic): University of North Florida; and,  the University of Ottawa (Canada). He has also done consulting in the field of international relations for the US Government, the European Union, and for the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

He is a member of the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Management, the International Studies Association, the Middle East Studies Association of North America, the American Political Science Association, and the International Association of Conflict Management, and the British International Studies Association. He serves on the editorial boards of several international business and political journals.
